From 1994 to 1998, Japanese photographer Shoken Takahashi traveled around Europe photographing the beauty of young women from different countries in a collection of 29 books entitled Bishojo Kiko (美少女紀行), roughly translated as “Journeys in Pursuit of Beautiful Girls.”
Originally published between 1994 and 1999 as a collection of 29 volumes, each dedicated to a different region of Europe, this collection features many faces that would later become popular in their respective countries as models, actresses or television presenters, but who at the time the photos were taken were simply candidates selected in castings directed by the photographer himself.
The original volumes were only sold in bookstores in Japan and are genuine collector’s items, but the compilations and digital versions published later are very affordable and can even be purchased as flat-rate subscriptions.
