From 1994 to 1998, Japanese photographer Shoken Takahashi travelled around Europe photographing the beauty of young girls from different countries in a collection of 29 books entitled Bishojo Kiko (美少女紀行), which roughly translates as “Journeys in Pursuit of Beautiful Girls”.
It was originally published between 1994 and 1999 in the form of a collection of 29 volumes, each one dedicated to a different region of Europe.
This collection features many faces that would later become popular in their respective countries as models, actresses or television presenters, but when the photos were taken they were simply candidates selected in castings directed by the photographer himself.
The original volumes were only sold in bookstores in Japan and are authentic collector’s items, but the compilations and digital versions published later are very affordable and can even be purchased in flat-rate subscriptions.
